Veggie Spy & Versatile Vegan
Nothing “beets” the heat like a cold, delicious tomatillo based salsa! Make sure to stop by the market for your fresh, local seasonal produce this Saturday!
Beets: 9N Farm, Drift Hills
Tomatillos: Cottage Garden
Eggplant: Feed Me Tomatoes, Raber Family Organics, Somerset Herbs - lots of pretty purple varieties!
Hungarian Wax Peppers: Drift Hills
Since eggplants and tomatoes are both colorful and abundant, the Versatile Vegan suggests making Zaalouk, a Middle Eastern eggplant and tomato spread. Like the more well known baba ghanoush, Zaalouk starts with roasting an eggplant, but there are different spices and the addition of tomatoes. Yum!

Tomatillos, which are popular in Mexican cuisine, look like small round green tomatoes and have a thin papery husk. They have a unique flavor that is acidic and bright, ideal for this Roasted Tomatillo Soup:

And don't forget beets! They're perfect for summer salads like this Roasted Beet Salad with Tahini Lemon Sauce:
Food Truck: C34 Street Bites
We are delighted to welcome Chef Alex Perez and the C34 Street Bites food truck back to the market tomorrow!
You can visit the C34 complete menu here. Tomorrow’s special is Grilled Cheese Caprese on sourdough bread with melted mozzarella, heirloom tomato and a basil-garlic pesto.
Find the C34 truck in front of US Bank on the east side of High Street.

Did you know you can learn CPR at the Worthington Farmers Market?
Worthington firefighters will be on hand at the Farmers Markets the first Saturday of every month again this year to teach the simple but effective method of “Hands-Only CPR”.
Adults and children can learn this technique, giving you confidence and knowledge to respond effectively during emergencies.
Stop by the Worthington Division of Fire & EMS area on the Southeast Village Green so you can practice your skills on our CPR mannequins!
