To commemorate the 250th anniversary of the United States (America250) and the 225th anniversary of the City of Worthington (Worthington225), the City of Worthington is establishing a Poet Laureate position. This honorary position will serve from January 1, 2026 to December 31, 2028.

The Worthington Poet Laureate will:

• Create and present original poetry at 3–6 public engagements annually (e.g., Arbor Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Concert on the Green).

• Organize or contribute to at least one community outreach project per year (e.g., workshops, readings, youth poetry activities).

• Serve as an ambassador for poetry across the city, using poetry to celebrate America250 and Worthington225.

• Coordinate with city staff to align appearances and programming with community events.

• Submit an annual activity report.
