Tour of Ohio Bike Race Returns to Worthington

IMG_2056On your mark, get set, go! Cyclists and spectators of all ages – get ready! Once again, the city of Worthington is an official stop on the Tour of Ohio Bike Race. The three-day event, which begins in Worthington on August 29, will travel across the state, making stops at Capitol Square in downtown Columbus on August 30 and at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in Lexington on August 31. In addition to cheering on the professionals riding in the Worthington leg of this year’s event, community members can also participate in a number of races for children and amateurs. If you’re familiar with the previous race route, you’ll be glad to learn that this year’s course has been slightly modified. The new route, which cuts across on Hawthorne Street, will allow for faster times and more loops for racers and spectators to enjoy. Here’s a look at the evening’s schedule of events:

  • 5:00 pm – Kids' Sprints ages 3-4, 5-6, 7-8, 9-10, 11-12 (all participants must wear a helmet)
  • 5:30 pm – Category 4-5 Beginners Open
  • 6:00 pm – Category 3-4
  • 6:01 pm – Women 3-4, Master Women 45+
  • 7:00 pm – Category Pro 1-3

While advanced registration is greatly encouraged, onsite registration will be available beginning at 4:30 p.m. prior to the start of the first race. To ensure safety for all participants, several street closings and parking restrictions are worth noting—especially if you live near the route. So gather the family, grab your bikes and helmets, and join us! See you at the finish line!
