3 Great Places to Get a Cup of Coffee in Worthington

The coffee bar at RIDEhome This winter there’s been no shortage of days for warming up with a good cup of coffee. After all, there’s a reason coffee sales go up when the temperatures drop. And while it’s true that coffee drinkers tend to remain loyal to their brew year round, drinking hot coffee on a July afternoon is kind of like indulging in ice cream in the middle of February. Still good--but not as much fun.

So, while we may finally be knocking on spring’s door, there are still plenty of cold mornings ahead. To help you navigate these last days of winter, we highlighted three of Worthington’s finest establishments for a great cup of joe.

La Chatelaine French Bakery & Bistro

Throughout the morning hours, people head over to La Chatelaine for great coffee and a seat by the fire. Throw in the local newspaper and some friendly conversation, and it’s a great way to start any day. LaChatelaine proudly serves French roast, Colombian roast and a variety of flavored coffees (Cuban Delight, Highlander Grog, French Caramel) from Stauf’s Coffee Roasters. Add to that a tantalizing lineup of lattes, cappuccinos, espressos, Americanos and cafe au lait. Grab a croissant, and you’re ready to go.

Best tip: The Belgian hot chocolate with ganache and heavy cream is amazing. Whipped cream and chocolate shavings? Yes, please.

Featuring a rotating selection of coffee from local roasters (currently Crimson Cup and Roaming Goat), the focus here is on the natural flavor of the coffee. Most people in the Columbus area are already familiar with Crimson Cup Coffee & Tea, but it’s worth noting that the Roaming Goat Coffee Co. is a small-batch roaster based in Worthington. Just call it a hometown favorite.
