Chapala Mexican Grill Brings Tacos and Margaritas to Worthington

You probably heard all of Worthington utter a shout for joy in late February when Chapala Mexican Grill announced its grand opening date. The community has been eagerly anticipating the Mexican eatery, located in the old Bruegger’s Bagels space at High and South Streets, since it was announced in 2021.

Well, now Chapala is finally open, giving Worthington residents and visitors alike a new option for dining along the High Street historic district.

Owned by brother and sister duo Luiz and Ramona Munoz, Chapala is currently open for lunch and dinner Monday-Saturday, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. and on Sundays 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Their menu features dozens of dishes, from appetizers and salads to fajitas and tacos, burritos and enchiladas, all customizable with seafood, veggies, steak, pork, and chicken. They even offer desserts and a kid’s menu.

If you’re looking for a quick lunch, they feature a specialized lunch menu from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., with everything from carnitas and taco salads to huevos rancheros and chimichangas.

Last November voters approved a liquor permit for Chapala, so the restaurant also includes a full bar with margaritas, signature cocktails, wine, and both domestic and international beers.

Even better, the permit was extended to be included in Worthington’s Designated Outdoor Refreshment Area (DORA), which is in effect 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily. That means you can snag a margarita to-go from Chapala while you stroll the district and shop!
