2018 Farmers market changes
The Old Worthington Partnership values the support of the local neighborhood in welcoming residents and visitors to High Street for our outdoor Worthington Farmers Market. It is a tradition that differentiates our community experience from many others. The first outdoor market will be Saturday, May 5. And while we have been indoors for several months, we’ve been considering many adjustments and enhancements to the outdoor market. Here are a few things you’ll notice different this year:
• Extended Hours: We’re going to test extending the market to 1 p.m. in June, July and August as another tactic to better serve customers, as well as attract visitors who may stay for lunch or to shop when the market closes. Based on an analysis of nationwide best practices, farmers markets our size should be open for five hours. We will evaluate this pilot at the end of August and make a determination at that time for the rest of the outdoor season.
• Handicapped Parking: The Dewey’s parking lot will be reserved for handicapped customers. Current tags must be visible in each vehicle.
• Expanded Footprint: Vendors will extend farther down the east side of high street in front of the United Methodist Church.
