If you can't make it to France or England for that one-of-a-kind antique or item for the home, don't fret. You can purchase these treasures right here in Worthington. Every year Barbara Guzzo, owner of Pure Cottage in Downtown Worthington, travels overseas to purchase European antiques, which she sells and uses as display pieces in the shop. She also travels to New York City and Atlanta to purchase what she calls "decorative accessories with a European look." Luckily, you can purchase them all at Pure Cottage.
Guzzo opened Pure Cottage in June 2010. Prior to that she owned Hedgerow Antiques in Powell and co-owned No. 693 in Worthington. Today she
is passionate about owning and operating Pure Cottage where she can share her love of European antiques and decorative accessories for the home.
"There are so many aspects of this I enjoy. I love the trips to England and France. I love talking to the customers. I love almost every aspect of it. For me, it's a passion" she said. "And, Worthington is such a friendly and family-oriented community where many people can walk to the shops and restaurants. I enjoy getting to know the people, and I particularly like it when (weather-permitting) I can keep the front door open and I am not separated from what's going on outside."
Guzzo is also quick to point out that every shop in Worthington has its own personality, which she believes contributes to the area's success. Here's a closer look at some of the products that make her shop unique:
- home decor items
- European antiques
- fragrances and soaps by Thymes and Baudelaire
- jewelry lines by Alex and Ani, John Wind Maximal Art, Pick Up Sticks
- specific gift lines that include Beatriz Ball, Chandler 4 Corners, Go Home, Michel Design Works, Fringe Studio
