Deck the Halls in Olde Worthington
Again this holiday season, the Olde Worthington Business Association (OWBA) will host its annual Holiday Open House and Illuminating Shopping events on the charming streets of Downtown Worthington. These much-anticipated community outings are the perfect way to kick off the festive season in style.
Holiday Open House
Families, friends and children of all ages will not want to miss this year’s Holiday Open House. The event, which will take place on December 1 from 12 to 5:30 p.m., features horse-drawn carriage rides, live musical entertainment, refreshments, holiday shopping, photos with Santa, and of course, the annual tree lighting. Here's a schedule of the day's activities:
1 -5 p.m. – Photos with Santa, taken by Little Tree Studios, on the Worthington Inn porch
1:30 - 4:30 p.m. – Horse-drawn carriage rides at the corner of New England and High streets
5:30 p.m. – Tree lighting ceremony with Santa on the Southeast Village Green
Illuminating Shopping is a festive tradition in Downtown Worthington, and this
year it will take place on December 5 from 6 to 9 p.m. This event creates the perfect opportunity for visitors to shop local while turning the holiday hustle-bustle into a fun, relaxing evening with family and friends. Guests will stroll the beautiful candle-lit streets, enjoying horse-drawn carriage rides, wine and cheese, live music, special sales and extended hours at all their favorite stores.
Like so many others, the OWBA and the Worthington Parks and Recreation Department recognize the need to give back to those less fortunate. For this reason, they will be collecting food and monetary donations for the Worthington Food Pantry during both of these popular events. Holiday Open House visitors may bring their donations to the truck in front of the Worthington Inn from 12 to 5 p.m. and to the tree lighting ceremony from 5 to 6 p.m. During the Illuminating Shopping event, visitors may drop their donations in a designated box located near the carriage ride departure point at the northeast corner of New England and High Streets.
